We give a player a forward speed boost when they jump. But now, we want that speed boost gone. So, do we just remove the speed boost then? No, we surround it by more spaghetti logic

Man, I found a really neat bit in Half-Life 2: Episode 1. If you bring one of the doors with the glass panel from the energy ball corridors in "Direct Intervention" into the area just before the train, you can use the door to kill the Combine Elites and Soldiers to get AR2 energy balls and grenades early. It can help take out the sniper in Urban Flight early and might be useful in making "The One Free Bullet" achievement a bit easier.
